Call for StartUps

This year, for the first time, the SUM Symposium has a special consideration for StartUps involved in the field of Urban Mining and circular Economy. We are extremely excited to announce the opening of a specific call for StartUPS ideas to be presented at SUM2018!

An entire conference session will be dedicated to the presentation of promising Start-ups dealing with the following topics:

  • Recycling and reuse of materials
  • Innovative separate collection systems
  • Food waste prevention and reduction
  • E-waste management
  • Waste management and circular economy
  • Waste recycling and social change
  • Takeback programs (refund, service sharing, leasing concepts, etc)
  • Technologies for materials recovery
  • Recirculation pathways and markets
  • Education and social aspects (Communication campaigns)
  • Water and wastewater reuse programs
  • Waste disposal fee, bans and fines
  • Others

The selected StartUps will have the chance to take part in a pitching sessions event organized during the SUM Symposium.
The event will be coordinated by Stefano Carosio, managing director of Unismart Padova Enterprise, the technology transfer and innovation management consulting in-house company of the University of Padova.

During the Symposium, a Start Up corner will be set up in the Commercial Exhibition Hall where the selected Start Ups may advertise their ideas and projects in a dedicated area to an unrivalled, highly-targeted audience.

In the prestigious context of the SUM Symposium, the pitching sessions and the presence in the exhibition area will represent an opportunity to come into contact with the world-leading experts in the field of waste management.
Selected Start ups will have the chance:

  • to present business proposition to companies, public administrations and private investors
  • to meet new technological partners
  • to launch new services
  • to find potential investors
  • to explore the funding opportunities provided by Horizon 2020 and partner with leading industrial and research players attending the event.

Proposals must be submitted as a PDF file by email to no later than January 31st and must comply with the template available for download. Additional presentation materials can be attached.
Proposals must clearly describe the idea, the aim of the project and the potential beneficiaries.
